Started out in 2000, Doteasy has been active in the hosting business, with free hosting at first, then operating in the budget hosting market, or as they call it, “affordable” hosting. At this time, their offer comprises shared hosting only. They’re also a domain registrar.

I’ve been using DotEasy since 2002, and it’s been a constant string of database problems, bad customer service, and hidden charges. I’m in the process of moving all of my sites from DotEasy to DreamHost.
Repeatedly, I would discover that my DotEasy databases would spontaneously empty. Tons of data lost. When I complained, they just shrugged.
Their help docs are hopelessly out of date.
I’m paying for a hosting plan that includes PHP5, but they’re giving me PHP4. When I complained, they said that it’s their policy that longtime customers have to pay a surcharge to access new features — even though I’m already paying for those features.
Their customer service is very unhelpful. They’re not at all interested in resolving problems; only in finding new ways to tack on surcharges.
Working with DotEasy has been a pretty unpleasant experience. DreamHost, on the other hand, has been great. I’m looking forward to finally getting all of my sites moved from DotEasy to DreamHost.
